18200 blk 9th St E, Lake Tapps

Foothills Detachment deputies were at a domestic violence call when they saw a car drive past them at a high rate of speed. The driver failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a power pole. The transformer blew and the pole was completed sheared off. By the time deputies reached the scene, the driver was already out of the car and was holding a beer can. He tried to hide it in the backseat, but the deputy told him he was too late. The 33-year-old suspect was arrested for DUI and malicious mischief in the first degree. Due to the serious collision and injuries, he was transported to the hospital for medical treatment rather than jail. If charged, a summons will be issued for him to appear in court.

Commercial Burglary
12800 blk 101st Ave Ct E, South Hill

A deputy was dispatched to a burglary that occurred at a cell tower. When she arrived, a technician told her that the suspects cut the padlock off the gate to gain access to the secured area. Once inside, the suspects damaged multiple power boxes. They shut off the power to one of the boxes so they could steal wiring. They caused an arc, which likely scared them, and they took off before stealing more. Estimated damages are believed to be at least $5,000.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Arrest
9700 blk 155th St E, South Hill

A patrol deputy was conducting a welfare check at a residence, but nobody answered the door. As he walked back to his car, he spotted a green Ford F-350. Knowing that these vehicles are frequently stolen, he ran the license plate. Records confirmed that the truck had been reported stolen in Tacoma. The deputy arrested the 43-year-old female who was in the truck and booked her into jail for unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle. It appears that the truck was being driven using a shaved key, and there were other shaved keys inside the truck.

100 blk 150th St Ct S, Parkland

A patrol deputy stopped a car because it didn’t have license plates. The driver did not have a driver’s license, registration or insurance. When the deputy asked him to turn off the car, the driver reached under the steering column and disconnected the wires that were hanging down. A records check revealed the car had been reported stolen in Tacoma. The 46-year-old driver was arrested and booked into jail for unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.

Armed Robbery
11200 blk Canyon Rd E, Summit

Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery that had just occurred at a gas station. When deputies arrived, an employee told them that two suspects wearing dark clothing and ski masks entered the store and demanded cash. She said one of them had a short-barreled shotgun. The employee gave them cash from the register and then they left in a vehicle. Deputies are working to obtain surveillance video.

96th St E & Golden Given Rd E, Midland

A deputy was dispatched to a two-vehicle collision that was partially blocking the road. When the deputy arrived, one of the drivers said she was traveling northbound on Golden Given and was stopped at 96th St E to make a left turn. She said she was hit from behind by a Chevy Suburban. When the deputy contacted the driver of the Suburban, he noticed signs of impairment. When asked if he had been drinking, the driver said he had been drinking “a lot.” The 51-year-old driver was transported to the hospital for a blood draw before being booked into jail for DUI.
