Warrant, Resisting Arrest
8th Ave E & 268th St Ct E

A Mountain Detachment deputy was on graveyard-shift patrol when he spotted a man with a bicycle sitting inside a privately-owned school bus stop shelter. The deputy chatted with the male, who provided his name. When the deputy checked his computer, he learned the man had an arrest warrant for domestic violence. The deputy told the suspect he would have to arrest him. The suspect was initially compliant, but when the deputy tried to put the handcuffs on, the suspect began to resist. The two struggled and went to the ground. The deputy noticed that the suspect had unusual strength and believed he was under the influence of drugs. Since the deputy’s backup was miles away, he pepper-sprayed the suspect to gain compliance and was successful. The 38-year-old suspect had 11 grams of methamphetamine in his pocket. He was booked into jail for his warrant as well as new charges of resisting arrest and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision at an intersection. When they arrived, they discovered that both vehicles had significant damage and they saw a traffic signal pole laying in the intersection. One of the drivers had serious injuries and was trapped in his vehicle. He told deputies that the other vehicle ran the stop sign and hit him at a high speed. Deputies contacted the 38-year-old driver of that car and noticed signs of intoxication. He was arrested and transported to the hospital for a blood draw before being booked into jail for vehicular assault.
