Stolen Vehicle Recovery, DUI, Drugs
224th St E & 30th Ave E, Spanaway

A patrol deputy passed a vehicle driving without headlights, so he turned around to conduct a traffic stop. When he turned around, the vehicle sped away, driving into oncoming lanes to pass traffic. When he reached Mountain Hwy, he tried to take a wide right turn, but spun out due to the slick roads. His engine died and he couldn’t get the vehicle restarted. As the deputy approached the driver’s door, the suspect quickly locked it. The deputy had to break the window to gain control of the suspect, who was taken into custody. A records check revealed that the car had been stolen from the Everett area. The suspect had several Xanax pills in his pocket. When he arrived at the jail, another search was completed. The booking deputy found 45 fentanyl pills hidden in his shoe and in another “special” hiding place. The 31-year-old suspect was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, driving while suspended, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Deputies were dispatched to a strongarm robbery in progress at a grocery store. When they arrived, a loss prevention officer told them that a juvenile attempted to steal a shopping cart full of alcohol. When loss prevention officers confronted him, two more juveniles approached from the parking lot and attempted to help their friend. The suspects then assaulted the loss prevention officers and vandalized a coffee stand inside the store. Employees were able to detain one of the juveniles, while the other two ran away. Deputies arrested the 17-year-old suspect, who was clearly intoxicated. He was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared before being booked into Remann Hall for robbery in the second degree, organized retail theft and minor in possession of liquor.
