Tractor-trailer rollover closes busy South Pierce County road overnight

Yesterday, at 4:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision in the 45000 block of Alder Cutoff Rd E, just outside of Eatonville. A tractor-trailer had gone off the road, rolled over, and was resting on its side 15 feet down a steep embankment.

When deputies arrived, they found the driver sitting on the road. He had extricated himself from the truck and had only minor injuries. He did not show signs of impairment.

The trailer had been carrying 13,600 cedar fence boards and was headed to a lumber store in Kent.

Since the collision involved a commercial truck, Washington State Patrol’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement responded to the scene and conducted an investigation.

The collision took out a power pole, which left many in the Eatonville area without power. The tow company and utility company worked throughout the night to remove the tractor-trailer, clean up the mess, and restore power.
