Shooting at Party in Parkland

At 9:56 pm, on Thursday January 6, our deputies responded to a call of a shooting at the 100 block of 131st St E in Parkland. Deputies arrived on scene and found a man with a gunshot wound. Deputies helped put gauze on the man’s injury while they waited for paramedics to arrive on scene. Other deputies located the shooter who was a neighbor across the street. They saw he had a firearm in his hand and ordered him to place it on the ground. The man complied and was taken into custody.

Deputies learned there was a birthday party at the home and the suspect lived across the street. There was an argument between the suspect and victim which led to a physical confrontation. The suspect fired a shot at the victim and several people were able to pull the gun away from the suspect. The suspect went back inside his residence and grabbed another gun before deputies arrived on scene.

Detectives were called out to help with the investigation. The 34-year-old victim ended up having minor injuries and was cleared from the hospital shortly after the incident. The 41-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injury from the fight and then booked into the Pierce County Jail for Assault in the 1st Degree.
