Stolen Vehicle, Drugs, Warrants
13300 blk Meridian E, South Hill

Deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in a grocery store parking lot. When they arrived, they noticed that the vehicle didn’t have any license plates and was freshly spraypainted. The two occupants were passed out inside and a bag of blue pills was visible. A records check revealed that the vehicle had been stolen from the Tacoma area. Deputies woke up the occupants after several attempts. The 28-year-old male driver was arrested and booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle. He also had a misdemeanor assault warrant. Deputies did not arrest for the drug possession because, according to state law, simple drug possession is not an arrestable offense.

Shoplift
10300 blk 156th St E, South Hill

A security employee at a department store filed an online theft report. He wrote that a known, prolific shoplifter stole numerous items including: apparel, bedding, groceries and sporting goods. This 42-year-old suspect frequently steals from this store. Deputies arrested her on Dec. 18 for burglary since she had been previously trespassed from the store and returned to steal more items. She was booked into jail and charged with burglary in the second degree. At her arraignment the following day, she was released on her personal recognizance. She has since failed to report to Pre-trial Services, which is required as a condition of release.

Assault
100 blk Military Rd E, Parkland-Spanaway

A deputy was dispatched to a hit-and-run collision in the parking lot of a hardware store. When he arrived, the victim told him that he works for a company that was called in to clean up a fuel spill in the parking lot. The victim said he and his coworkers were in the process of blocking off the area when a man in a car approached. The victim told the driver he couldn’t go into the blocked off area and the driver became angry. He used his car to bump into the victim several times before speeding away. The deputy tracked down the driver using the license plate number. He told the deputy that he wanted to park in front of the store and was mad that the victim wouldn’t let him. He denied hitting the victim with his car. The 45-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into jail for assault in the second degree. There was also probable cause to arrest him for domestic violence assault in the first degree from an incident on Christmas where he pointed a gun at his roommate.

Shoplifting, Assault
16900 blk Meridian E, South Hill

Deputies were dispatched to an assault that had just occurred at a department store. When they arrived, the victim told them he was inside the store and saw two women shoplifting. He said they had two carts full of merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying. The victim said he grabbed one of the carts and then followed the suspects into the parking lot to retrieve more stolen merchandise. One of the women sprayed him with mace and then the two got into a struggle. The other woman pulled out a knife and threatened the victim. The victim backed away at that point. He was able to provide deputies with a vague description of the vehicle, but not a license plate. Store cameras were not working at the time.

Found Firearm
9200 blk 105th Ave Ct SW, Lakewood

A deputy was dispatched to collect found property from a residence. When she arrived, the reporting party told her he had rented a vehicle and found a firearm tucked under the driver’s seat. The gun had a round in the chamber and the magazine was fully loaded. The deputy attempted to contact the gun’s registered owner, but he didn’t answer the phone. She booked the gun into our property room for safekeeping.

Illegal Firearms Possession
26000 blk Mountain Hwy E, Spanaway

A deputy was traveling southbound on Mountain Hwy when he spotted a possibly impaired driver. He followed the car into a gas station parking lot and activated his lights and sirens. The vehicle continued driving slowly and then stopped in the middle of 267th St E. The deputy ordered the driver out of his vehicle, and when the driver got out, the deputy noticed several loose rounds of live ammo on the floorboard. The deputy detained the suspect and then saw the grip of a revolver sticking out from under the seat. The suspect is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms. A records check revealed that the revolver had been reported stolen in 1991. The 34-year-old suspect was booked into jail for unlawful possession of a firearm.
