At 06:50 am, this morning our deputies were dispatched to a one car collision in the area of Pioneer Ave E and Canyon Rd E. The 911 caller witnessed a truck driving at a high rate of speed fail to negotiate a curve as it was headed north on Canyon Rd E. The truck hit a tree and then went down an embankment.
Deputies and Central Pierce Fire arrived on scene and saw the vehicle was 40 yards down the embankment. The lone occupant, a 56 year old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Our Traffic Investigators were called out to the scene to document the fatal collision.
