At 10:44 am, on Monday November 28th our 911 dispatchers received a call of a 2 vehicle head on collision at 14800 block of 118th Ave NW in Gig Harbor. The driver of a work van collided head on with a garbage truck that was picking up a trash can. The driver of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Due to the driver’s seat being on the right side, the driver of the garbage truck had no injuries. Traffic Deputies have been called to the scene to investigate and document the scene. At this time there is no evidence that the van braked prior to the collision.
The roadway will be shut down for several hours and we ask that everyone use an alternate route until later this evening.
