Driver arrested for vehicular homicide following Roy collision

At 12:19 am, witnesses called in a single car collision at the 1200 block of 304th St E in the Mountain Detachment. Deputies responded to the call with South Pierce and Graham Fire. They found the passenger, a 48-year-old woman, had been ejected from the vehicle and was declared deceased at the scene. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital for her injuries.

Traffic deputies responded to document the collision and the initial investigation shows speed and impairment as factors in the collision. The vehicle was traveling west bound on 304th St E when it went off the roadway and struck two trees before coming to rest in a ditch on the north side of the roadway.

The 43-year-old female driver has been arrested for Vehicular Homicide and will be transported to the Pierce County Jail when she is released from the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
