Collision, DUI arrest
11700 blk Woodland Ave E, South Hill

Deputies were dispatched to a possible DUI collision involving a single vehicle. When deputies arrived, the vehicle’s occupants had already been transported to the hospital. After being shown a driver’s license photo, witnesses confirmed that the registered owner was the driver. Fire personnel told deputies that the driver smelled of alcohol. At the hospital, the 35-year-old driver admitted to drinking alcohol as well as smoking marijuana before driving. Her 13-year-old daughter was in the car with her. The juvenile was released to her father. The driver was arrested but needed to stay at the hospital due to her injuries. Charges will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

Burglary, Vehicle Theft
3000 blk 112th St E, Parkland

A deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle and trailer theft that had just occurred at a library. An employee told the deputy that as he arrived for work, he saw someone crash through a gate and drive away in the library’s van, which was towing a utility trailer. Deputies are working to obtain a copy of the surveillance video.

DUI arrest
15900 blk 93rd Ave E, South Hill

Deputies were dispatched to a welfare check for a driver who was slumped over in his car, which was blocking a lane of travel. When deputies arrived, they discovered that the car was in gear and the driver had his foot on the brake. They also noticed numerous alcoholic beverages inside the car. Once deputies got the driver out of the car, he was unable to stand on his own and his speech was incomprehensible. The 27-year-old suspect was arrested for DUI and was taken to the hospital for a blood draw before being booked into jail.

Commercial Burglary, Motorhome Theft
16600 blk Meridian E, South Hill

A deputy was dispatched to a commercial burglary and motorhome theft at an RV dealership. The suspects had cut the cable and lock on the gate in order to get inside the lot. They stole a golf cart as well as a $75,000 motorhome. Deputies will review the surveillance video once it becomes available.

9/4/22 – 9/5/22, Overnight
Burglary
5500 blk Key Peninsula Hwy NW

A deputy was dispatched to a burglary that occurred at a middle school overnight. A construction company is working to remodel the school and noticed that someone broke into the office trailer. The suspects stole multiple portable radios as well as a large safe. The entire office was destroyed. The safe was located partially blocking the roadway at Key Peninsula Hwy NW and A St. The owner was contacted and a deputy helped him load it into the back of his truck. It was heavily damaged, but everything was still inside. Deputies are working to determine if there is video surveillance of the incident.

Found Drugs
12100 blk Meridian E, South Hill

A deputy responded to a restaurant to collect drugs that were found in the parking lot by an employee. The employee said he arrived for work and discovered a broken glass jar and a small baggie with eight pills in it. The deputy determined the pills were likely fake Oxycodone pills, which usually contain fentanyl. The pills were booked into our property room for proper destruction.
