Yesterday, at 3:25 p.m., deputies responded to a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Spanaway Loop Rd S and 138th St S.
According to witnesses, a Ford Mustang was travelling southbound on Spanaway Loop Rd S at a high rate of speed. It ran the red light at 138th St S and struck another car that had a green turn arrow and was turning left onto northbound Spanaway Loop Rd S. The Mustang continued southbound and struck several more cars that were in line at the red light waiting to go north. The Mustang came to rest on its side.
Witnesses pulled the Mustang’s occupants and their dog from the car just before it caught fire. Neither were wearing seatbelts.
In total, six vehicles were involved in the collision. Some occupants were transported to the hospital and injuries ranged from minor to serious.
Our traffic investigators will continue their investigation and may refer charges to the prosecutor for review.
