Suspect Arrested After Shooting in University Place

At 9:30 pm, on June 22, 2022, our 911 dispatchers received a call of a male who was shot at the 5600 block of Hannah Pierce Rd W in University Place.  Our deputies were already in the area from a different disturbance call and they immediately located the victim outside of an apartment in the complex.

The 22 year old man was badly injured and was rushed to the hospital. The suspect had knocked at the door looking for someone and then when the victim answered up he shot through the door multiple times hitting the victim. Deputies were able to identify the suspect and advised all local jurisdictions about the shooting.

Tacoma Police responded to a disturbance call in their jurisdiction with our suspect from this shooting. Tacoma Police were able to take the male into custody based on our probable cause.  The 23 year old suspect was interviewed by detectives and then booked into the Pierce County Jail for Assault in the 1st Degree.

Nice team effort by our University Place Police Deputies and Tacoma Police Officers!
