Commercial Burglary
3200 blk 232nd St E, Spanaway

A deputy was dispatched to a commercial burglary at a cell phone tower. When he arrived, the manager told him that they received an alert overnight notifying them that the tower was offline. A technician went to the tower in the morning and saw a hole in the fence. He discovered $52,000 in theft and damages, and estimated it will take 72 man-hours for repairs.

Commercial Burglary
20400 blk Mtn Hwy E, Spanaway

Deputies were dispatched to a commercial burglary at a restaurant. When they arrived, the manager told deputies that two suspects had broken into the restaurant overnight. They attempted to break into the safe. Then, they vandalized the restaurant, destroying cash registers and the salad bar, and causing thousands of dollars in damage. They also stole a laptop. There is surveillance video of the burglary, and the investigation is ongoing.

Shooting
100 blk 171st St E, Spanaway

Deputies were dispatched to a shooting that occurred inside a residence. When they arrived, they found a 43-year-old man on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. According to his 71-year-old mother, the two were arguing over missing property. The mother said she was holding a gun in her hand and accidentally fired a round at her son. The son was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Carjacking, Eluding
9300 blk Golden Given Rd E, Midland

Deputies were dispatched to a report of a stolen vehicle that was spotted on Golden Given Rd E. The vehicle had been stolen at gunpoint earlier in the day in Tacoma. When deputies arrived, they identified the occupant of the vehicle as the carjacking suspect. They attempted to take him into custody, but the suspect fought with deputies. He managed to get back into the vehicle and he sped away. Since armed robbery is a pursuable offense, deputies chased after the suspect. During the pursuit, the suspect struck several vehicles, but nobody was seriously injured. The suspect crashed at S 72nd St and Fawcett Ave and fled on foot. Deputies caught up to him and took him into custody. The 40-year-old suspect was transported to the hospital prior to being booked into jail for eluding, possession of stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, obstructing and assault in the first degree.

16400 blk Meridian E, South Hill

Deputies were dispatched to a shooting in the parking lot of a shopping complex. When they arrived, they learned that a theft victim believed he had found his stolen property inside a pickup truck. The victim slashed the suspect’s tires and confronted him. The suspect drove away in the truck and the victim chased after him. The suspect stopped his vehicle, go out and fired at the victim. A round went through the victim’s windshield and hit him. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threating injuries. The suspect’s vehicle was located, but the suspect was not. The investigation is ongoing.
