DUI
183rd St Ct E & B St E, Spanaway

A traffic investigator was dispatched to a hit and run collision, possibly involving a DUI driver. A woman told the investigator that she was driving on B St E when an oncoming vehicle drifted into her lane. She tried to avoid the vehicle, but it struck her. She said that after the collision, the other driver got out of her car and said something to her, but she couldn’t understand her because she was slurring her words. The woman in the other car drove away and a witness followed her to a residence. A deputy responded to the location and arrested the 48-year-old driver for DUI and hit and run.

ATM Theft
100 blk Military Rd S, Spanaway

Deputies were dispatched to a security check at a gas station after a passerby called 911 to report that someone was trying to break in. When deputies arrived, they didn’t locate any suspects, but they discovered that someone had forcefully removed the ATM. The actual machine was gone and all that remained was the metal case. The investigation is ongoing.

Commercial Burglary
200 blk 176th St S, Spanaway

A deputy was dispatched to a burglary at a cell phone tower. When he arrived, a technician told him that someone had cut through the chain link fence with wire cutters. Once inside, the suspect broke into a metal cabinet and stole approximately $100,000 worth of electronics.

Reckless Driving
11100 blk Steele St S, Parkland

A patrol deputy was driving northbound on Steele St S when she saw an oncoming vehicle drift sideways through an intersection, almost striking several vehicles. She attempted to catch up to the vehicle, but she lost sight of it when it entered a storage complex. She checked the area and located the vehicle, but nobody was inside. The vehicle had a California plate on it, which came back to a different vehicle. Once the deputy removed the blacked-out license plate cover, she realized the plate was fake. The car is registered to a 21-year-old male who has been stopped in the past during street racing emphasis patrols. The car was impounded and the investigation is ongoing.

Felony Arrest Warrant
100 blk Military Rd S, Spanaway

A patrol deputy was driving through a grocery store parking lot when he spotted a suspect who had several felony warrants for his arrest. The 29-year-old suspect was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked car. Once backup arrived, deputies took the suspect into custody for his warrants: residential burglary, theft, and trafficking stolen property. He was booked into jail.
