Gig Harbor Officer Involved in Shooting in Purdy

At 4:45 pm on Tuesday April 19, Deputies contacted a male resident at the Cedars Mobile Home Park in Purdy to serve him a court order. The subject retreated into his trailer and then exited with a shotgun and leveled it towards a deputy. A Gig Harbor Officer, who had arrived to assist, then fired at the subject.

No one was hit nor injured and it is believed that the subject did not fire the shotgun.

The subject retreated back into the home and tried fleeing out the back but was captured. The suspect was later booked into the Pierce County Jail for two counts of assault in the first degree.

Pierce County detectives and forensic investigators responded to the scene to handle the investigation. The investigation does not require an independent investigation team due to no serious injury being caused by the use of deadly force.
