On Sunday, at 2:39pm, a 911 caller reported that he found human remains while hiking with a friend in a remote area near Carbonado.
Deputies and a Search and Rescue coordinator responded to the area and the two hikers led them to the location of the remains.
Yesterday, detectives returned to the area and recovered the remains.
At this time, there is not enough information to determine the cause of death. Detectives are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the remains.
