DUI suspect arrested following Sunday morning pursuit

This morning, at 8:20am, a deputy noticed an SUV that was swerving into oncoming traffic in the 10600 block of Ainsworth Ave S in Parkland. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle for DUI, but the driver sped away.

Since DUI is a pursuable offense, the deputy chased after the vehicle. The pursuit ended in Tacoma when the vehicle clipped another car and rolled several times. Both occupants of the suspect vehicle fled on foot.

Deputies located the 44-year-old female driver hiding in a nearby backyard, and found the 41-year-old male passenger in a nearby parking lot. Both were transported to the hospital with minor injuries before being booked into jail.

The female driver will be booked for DUI, felony eluding, driving while suspended in the first degree, and driving without an ignition interlock device (due to prior DUI). She also has a warrant for felony eluding.

The male passenger has a warrant for violating a domestic violence no-contact order.

The occupants of the second vehicle were not injured.
