On March 6, at 3:01pm, deputies were dispatched to an injury collision in the 20400 block of Nisqually Rd SW near DuPont. 911 callers reported that a vehicle went off the road and down an embankment.
When deputies arrived, they located a small SUV, which was down a steep embankment and resting against a tree. The driver, a 21-year-old female, was deceased inside the vehicle.
Search and Rescue Team members set up a rope system so they could get down to the vehicle and stabilize it. Then, a tow truck pulled the vehicle back up to the road.
According to witnesses, the driver of the SUV tried to pass a large truck that was towing a trailer, but she lost control and went off the roadway.
