More details for Deputy Shandon Wright’s memorial

On Friday, March 11, the public is invited to attend the memorial service for Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Shandon Wright. The service is being held at the Champions Centre, 1819 E. 72nd St. in Tacoma. Doors will open at 11 a.m. for the 1 p.m. ceremony.

There will be not be a procession, but there will be a small family motorcade to escort Wright’s family from Lipoma Firs Golf Course in Graham to the Champions Centre, where they will arrive at approximately noon.

A five-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department, Wright died last Thursday, less than 24 hours after undergoing shoulder surgery for an injury suffered during an on-duty assault last August.  The 29-year-old deputy leaves behind his wife, Janessa, and 3-year-old daughter.

The program includes remarks from Wright’s father, his best friend, and several of his colleagues, as well as Sheriff Paul Pastor and Pierce County Executive Pat McCarthy. Governor Christine Gregoire will be presenting the Washington State flag to Wright’s family. Click here to view Deputy Shandon Wright Memorial Program.

Flower deliveries for Deputy Wright’s memorial

Flower deliveries for Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Shandon Wright will be accepted this Thursday and Friday at the Champions Centre, where Wright’s memorial will be held. There will be staff on-hand to accept the flowers from noon to 4 p.m. on March 10, and from 8 to 10 a.m. on March 11. The service will begin later that day at 1 p.m.

The memorial service for Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy Shandon Wright will be held on Friday, March 11,  at 1 p.m. at the Champions Centre, located at 1819 E. 72nd St. in Tacoma.

Deputy Wright died on Thursday, March 3,  less than 24 hours after undergoing shoulder surgery for an injury suffered during an on-duty assault last August.

Deputy Shandon Wright was 29 years old, and is survived by a wife and young daughter. Deputy Wright was a five-year veteran of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

There will be a public viewing 3 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW  in Lakewood.

There will be no procession. A motorcade will escort the family and friends of the Wrights to the memorial. Parking for Deputy Wright’s Memorial at the Champion Centre will be limited, so carpooling is encouraged.
