177th/Alward Road near South Prairie advised of potential flooding

A Pierce County ALERT message was sent to homes in the 177th/Alward Road area near South Prairie on the Carbon River of potential flooding.

The following message was sent to over 50 residents:

“A Flood WARNING for the Carbon River in your area has been issued. A situation for potential flooding in the 177th Street / Alward Road area is now imminent. Local flooding could cause damage to your property and homes, and block your escape route. Authorities will be monitoring the river and weather forecast to provide as much early warning as possible. Please monitor the National Weather Service forecasts and listen to your weather alert radios for warnings. We encourage you to prepare your important documents, possessions and pets for evacuation if necessary. Don’t forget your medications. If you are advised to evacuate, leave immediately. You may only have a few minutes to get out and rescuers may not be able to get to you if you stay. This concludes this message.”
