Volunteers team up to clean up

Tacoma, WA – January 16, 2009 – Teams of volunteers will be heading out this weekend to help muck out their neighbors from last week’s flooding. Teams from Calvary Church of Sumner will meet Saturday morning at the Rainier Manor Mobile Home Park clubhouse off of 141st Ave. E in Sumner. They will be cleaning up mud and debris.

Leaders will assign tasks at 10 a.m. Volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will head out at 8 a.m. on Saturday to the Valleybrook Village mobile home park on on 29th St. Ct. East off of River Road in Puyallup. They will be working on removing skirting, wet moulding and insulation from the mobile homes that were flooded. White River High School students and other volunteers in the South Prairie area will team up with Mayor Paula Levesque on Monday at 10 a.m. at the fire station (Pierce County Fire District 20), 350 Highway 162E in South Prairie, to help clean up damaged property in the town.

Anyone interested in volunteering with these groups are welcomed to do so. Show up at any of the locations at the above times. Please bring gloves, boots, and dress appropriately. Those that have shovels and/or power washers are asked to bring them as well.
