Tacoma, WA – January 16, 2009 – The Pierce County Damage Assessment Call Center will be open next Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 to 5 p.m. (it will be closed Jan. 19 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday). Citizens are encouraged to continue to report damages resulting from the recent flooding.

Homeowners, renters and business owners affected by the flooding should call the Department of Emergency Management Damage call center at 1-866-798-6363. Reported damage amounts can affect whether or not Pierce County receives a presidential disaster declaration. If one is declared, FEMA assistance becomes available to citizens.

Callers should have the following information available: * Name and address of affected property * Type of insurance (homeowners) * A description of damage, even if uninsured * A personal estimate of uninsured losses * Estimate of the fair market value of the damaged home or business. People interested in obtaining free vouchers for debris removal must also call the Pierce County Damage Assessment Call Center to request the vouchers.
